Discover the 1st Fundación Marco Asensio Charity Race: Running to Support Children with Cancer and Their Families
This race is far from the Fundación Marco Asensio’s first connection with sport. Quite the opposite. Sport is part of its very history and of the way it understands how to support its charitable mission.
The Foundation was created by Mallorcan athlete Marco Asensio, a footballer who currently plays for Fenerbahçe S.K. in the Turkish Süper Lig. Since its beginnings, the Foundation has worked to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families, and sport has become one of its key tools for doing so. Physical exercise, nutrition and family support are all part of this vision. They are different ways of helping children and their families feel stronger and enjoy moments of normality and happiness.
Through its family support initiatives, the Foundation aims to create moments that allow children to continue enjoying experiences typical of their age. From a special day at PortAventura Park to the opportunity to attend a basketball game together, the goal is to be there for them and give them moments they can remember.
Now, the Foundation is taking another step by once again turning sport into a powerful tool for solidarity, with the creation of a charity race in Magaluf. And it is doing so with everyone in mind.
Next November 15, the Magaluf Athletics Track (Joan Munar Martínez) will become the meeting point for a very special day.
The Fundación Marco Asensio invites runners, families, volunteers and everyone who would like to take part in the race.
This is a 100% charity event, where every participant can choose how to make their contribution, regardless of age or sporting ability.
The event will feature different formats so that everyone can find their own way to participate and make a difference.
10K and 5K Races
Two options for those who want to run and enjoy the competition. Both the 10K and 5K will be timed, circular races, including refreshments and a commemorative T-shirt.
5K Walk: Walking Is Taking Part Too
A non-timed, circular and accessible walk for those who prefer to walk. It is pet-friendly and includes refreshments at the finish line and a commemorative T-shirt.
1K Family Race: Running Together
An activity for the youngest participants, designed to be enjoyed as a family. Adults and children will complete the course together, with no timing.
Participating children will receive a finisher medal, commemorative T-shirt and a blank race bib to personalise. The children’s registration does not include a bib or T-shirt for accompanying adults.
In addition to the races, the day will feature Zumba, organised sports activities, food trucks, music and special guests, creating an atmosphere designed to be enjoyed both on and off the course.
In addition to the funds raised for the Fundación Marco Asensio’s programmes, this race will also feature a special collaboration with the Asociación L’Estrella de na Marta. For every registration, €1 will be donated to the association, helping to continue supporting research into childhood cancer.
Next November 15, in Magaluf, there will be different paces, different ages and different ways to take part.
Some will run, others will walk, and some families will share their first kilometre together. Everyone will find their own way to move forward, but we will all do it for the same reason.
For children and their families, for those who support them, and also for those who did not make it this far.
And, above all, to keep moving forward together: driving research and supporting children and their families through nutrition, physical exercise and family support.
Because every step counts. And together, we are stronger.
