II Challenge Run&Bike - MTB 2016

CHALLENGE RUN&BIKE by S’ESCAPADA

Participants should gauge their strength carefully as in this type of event it is not always the strongest that wins, but rather the person that is best able to manage their strength

BASIC RULES (see rules and regulations)

RACE TYPE:

The race types to participate in this competition are as shown below:

a)       Individual Challenge: this is the principal  race type for those wishing to compete  in both events. 

b)       Team Challenge: teams will be made up of two participants who will take part in both events. The interval between them at each check point must not exceed 10”.   

c)       Relay Challenge: relay teams are made up of 2 participants: one for the running event and the other for the MTB race. 

d)       Trail Run Challenge: participants only compete in the Trail Running event. 

e)       MTB Challenge: participants only compete in the Mountain Bike event (MTB). 

 

DISTANCES:

 

a)     Trail Run: (approx.) 20 km

b)      MTB: (approx.) 40 km

 

CATEGORIES:

 

a)     Individual Challenge and Trail Run: the following AGE GROUPS apply to all participants in each of these two events, based on age and regardless of sex: 

 

18-20 years

Junior

c)     Team and Relay Challenges: the following categories apply to all participants in each of these categories, based on sex:

d)      In the events with age-based categories, there will also be a club category, which will be determined in accordance with the 3 best times by participants from a single club. 

e)     In the events with aged-based categories, there must be a minimum of 6 participants per age group, except in the case of Master age groups.

 

f)     Age groups that fail to meet the minimum requirement of 6 participants per age group shall compete in the lower age group. 

 

g)    The overall general classification for the Individual Challenge, Team Challenge and Relay Challenge shall be calculated by adding the times for both events. 

 

h)     In the Trail Run and MTB events, in addition to the age group categories there shall also be a general category for each event that shall include all participants. 

PROGRAMME

FRIDAY 1st APRIL 2016:

WELCOME

·         2 p.m. to 7 p.m.; reception for participants and family members (collection of numbers, runners’ packs, etc.) 

·         7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; General briefing

 

SATURDAY 2nd APRIL 2016:

TRAIL RUNNING

·         7.30 a.m. to 8 a.m.: collection of numbers

·         8 a.m. to 8.30 a.m.: runners’ check in

·         9 a.m.: race starts

·         11.30  a.m. onwards: first participants cross the finishing line 

·         12.30 p.m.; race ends (deadline)

·         5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; physiotherapy service for participants that have booked this service 

·         6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.: MTB event briefing

SUNDAY 3rd APRIL 2016:

MOUNTAIN BIKE

·         77.30 a.m. to 8 a.m.: collection of numbers  for MTB event

·         8 a.m. to 8.30 a.m.: participants’ check in

·         9 a.m.: race starts

·         11.30  a.m. onwards: first participants cross the finishing line

·         12.30 p.m.; race ends (deadline)

·         1 p.m. closing ceremony and brunch, during which the trophies will be awarded to the winners of the various categories.  

SERVICES

Thanks to the facilities at the Viva Cala Mesquida Hotel, the S’Escapada Club is able to offer a wide range of services for event participants as well as their family members, in keeping with our philosophy of looking after and pampering sports men and women and their families. 

Details of these services are provided below:

1.      Registration platform: all registrations will be made online via the registration and classification platform at www.elitechip.net.

2.      Participant’s pack: each participant will receive a pack containing materials and information relating to the event. 

3.      Accommodation: participants and their family members may stay at the Viva Cala Mesquida Hotel.

4.      Nutrition: all your dietary requirements will be met: provisions, buffets, for sports men and women, etc.  

5.      Health: an ambulance service will be available for all participants throughout the competition, as well as a physiotherapy service for those that book beforehand. 

6.      Meeting point: an area offering participants and their family members a range of services, including the race office, start and finishing archway, boxes, merchandising, food (for participants only), etc. 

7.      Mechanical service: S’Escapada Bikes Shop will offer a mechanical service on the day before the race to get your bicycle in tiptop condition and solve any minor problems that it may have suffered during transport. A service will also be available on the day of the event to solve any problems that may occur during the race. 

8.      Mechanical parts: S’Escapada Bikes will offer MTB event participants a series of spare parts at certain points along the route in order to enable them to continue the race instead of having to withdraw due to mechanical problems (charges apply).  

9.      Multimedia: videos and photographs taken during the course of the weekend will be posted free of charge. 

10.  HR and volunteers: Club S’Escapada and Viva Hotels will have a large team on hand to handle the needs and requirements of both the event participants and their family members.

11.  PA system and music: speakers will be available throughout the competition.  

12.  Closing brunch during the prize giving ceremony.

ACCOMMODATION

4****plus Viva Cala Mesquida Resort & Spa Hotel

A series of Training and Preparatory Sessions will be held starting Tuesday, 29th March. The activities will include daily running and MTB sessions, talks and additional activities such as core training or yoga.
